Solubility of quartz at ambient temperatures and neutral pH is commonly 3–7 mg Si L −1, which is much lower than that of amorphous silica (50–60 mg Si L −1).Freshly ground quartz commonly shows abnormally high solubility (37 mg Si L −1).
